Bizim Kamp: what is it?

Not a service provider's camp. A camp that belongs to all of us.

Bizim Kamp is an interdisciplinary, integrated early-intervention and family-coaching programme in which neurodivergent children and their families share ten days of life with a team of specialists, moving through four stages: recognising, defining, assessing and transforming.

Why “Bizim Kamp”?

Mother, father, sibling and specialist… A camp that belongs to all of us, for our special children.

Specialists and family are both active participants, living through a stretch of time together in which the adjustments are made mostly “in the moment” — as the situation arises, inside ordinary daily life.

For ten days we sit at the same table, wake to the same mornings, meet the same difficulties, and share the small, drop-by-drop gains in the very moment they happen. Your child becomes our child too.

Bizim Kamp — Turkish for “Our Camp”, because it belongs to all of us.

The founding belief

Learning should be as natural a part of life as breathing.

As natural as the love in a mother's, a grandfather's or a grandmother's arms — unforced, unstaged, without ever having to say “now it's classroom time

Because nothing unnatural is sustainable. The session ends, the specialist goes home, but life carries on outside. We believe a child must learn life inside life itself in order to be able to sustain it. Specialist training is essential for a “special child” — but we believe that education becomes far more effective and more productive once the child has been observed alongside the family in their natural learning environment, a behavioural approach has been developed, and the family is able to sustain it at home.

This is the feeling at the core of our camp: we observe the natural learning environment while living in it alongside the family, accompany development and transformation together, and offer the family the right intervention within the natural flow of daily life — as “coaching” support.

Bizim Kamp, “the family's own” and go home with something substantial.

Methodology

Four stages

RecognisingDefiningAssessingTransforming. Each stage is the precondition for the next.

01

Recognising

In the first days we do not intervene; we observe. We get to see your child's natural state, their own rhythm, their own way of communicating and what they need. We believe nothing can be taught before a secure bond is formed.

02

Defining

We turn what we observed into data: strengths, areas of difficulty, triggers, sensory profile, feeding patterns, level of social initiation… Every specialist contributes to a single shared map of one child's life.

03

Assessing

We measure what we have defined and put it in order of priority. Which goal comes first? Which skill is a precondition for which? At this stage QEEG, epigenetic and gut-brain axis work also enter the picture.

04

Transforming

Assessment turns into practice: for the child, the chance to change behaviour in a natural setting; for the family, coaching at the same time and, over the ten days, the gradual handover of responsibility “know-how” back to the family.

What does “transformation” mean here? Bizim Kamp, transformation means the family becoming able to manage their child's development within everyday life, and the child making measurable progress in daily-living skills. It does not mean a medical cure or a change of diagnosis.
Who runs it?

Forty years of experience, brought to today

Bizim Kamp, Özel Çocuklar Yaşam Destekleme Derneği (OYADDER) .

OYADDER's roots go back to 1986. In 2012 we took a step that had no equivalent in Turkey or anywhere else: sharing the same life with mothers, fathers and children for “forty days” at a stretch, we built an original “Life Coaching” system that reaches family dynamics directly. In 2016-2017 this work was found to meet European Union Support Programme standards, earning international recognition.
